Guidelines for Internship/Project Work under NEP for UG Programme

******************************

According to the Provisions of Implementation of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme

(FYUGP) in State Universities of Jharkhand Regulations, 2024 , every undergraduate student

is required to complete a 4-credit internship or project.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Students of the 2022–26 batch must complete this requirement in Semester 5, while students

of all other batches may complete it in any one of the first six semesters.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Except for the UG Session 2022–26, students of other batches may complete the internship in

two parts—each worth 2 credits and of 4 weeks duration. Alternatively, students may opt to

complete the entire requirement at once by undertaking a 4-credit internship of 8 weeks. Except

for the UG Session 2022–26, the internship for all other batches should be completed during

the summer vacation.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The principal of each college must help students get good internship or project opportunities.

The principal, with the help of college teachers, should arrange these opportunities for the

students.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly, each college principal must circulate a notice informing students to choose one of the

following options:

1. Option-1: Internship

2. Option-2: Project Work.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Option-2: Guidelines for Project Work

Students who choose project work will be given suitable project opportunities by the college.

First, each student will select a project topic with the help of their class teacher. This topic must

be approved by the Head of the Department (HOD) or the Principal. After approval, the

HOD/Principal will assign a supervisor/guide to each student. With the guidance of this

supervisor/guide, the student will complete the project.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The project can be in different areas but should preferably be related to the student’s Major

subject. It may focus on social, economic, cultural, political, or other important issues.

The duration of the project work will be 8 weeks or 120 hours. During this period, students

will work or visit places related to their project topic. Each student must work on subject related

tasks under the guidance of the assigned teacher.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For the project, students must visit the concerned institution, company, office, or organization.

Based on the information they collect, they have to prepare a project report as per Appendix–

VIII with the help of their supervisor/guide. At the end of the semester, every student must

submit a handwritten, hardbound project report.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The evaluation will be conducted jointly by one external examiner and one internal examiner

during the viva voce examination. The date of the viva voce will be announced by the Principal

of the concerned college.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Evaluation Process:

  • Project Report: 60 marks
  • Project Presentation and Viva Voce: 40 marks

Internal examiners will be appointed from the departmental faculty. External examiners will

be permanent faculty members from university postgraduate departments or other constituent

colleges, appointed by the Principal with the approval of the Controller of Examinations,

SKMU, Dumka.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Internship/Project Work Cell and Coordinator

To ensure the smooth conduct of Internship/Project Work at the college level, the Principal of

the concerned college may appoint a teacher as the Internship/Project Work Coordinator and

form an Internship/Project Work Cell. The cell may consist of the following members:

(i) Principal of the concerned college – Chairman

(ii) College Nodal Officer for NEP-Member

(iii) Four active teachers from the Social Science, Humanities, Science, and

Commerce streams. -Member

(iv) Internship/Project Work Coordinator-Member Secretory

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

21st Century Chemistry: Challenges and Career Opportunities

As Chemistry is the study of the nature, properties and composition of matter, and how these undergo changes, it is referred to as the Central Science. Chemistry is the science about basic structure of substances, i.e what they are made of, how they interact and what role they play in living things. Everything we hear, see, smell, taste and touch involves chemistry and chemicals (matter). Chemistry plays a great role even in the air we breathe, the food we eat and the clothes we wear or imagine anything what we use in everyday life right from early morning to late night before we go to sleep or even while sleeping one may be using mosquito repellent. Chemistry and its innovations surrounds, envelops and touches our lives in all possible forms accepting global changes creating enormous challenges relating to human health ,energy, environmental pollution and scarce natural resources so one can visualise the vari...
